Grateful Dead

Many of you have only been around for less the 20 years, but beleive it or not, we had music way back in the day. One of the most popular groups that formed back in San Francisco in 1965 is the "Grateful Dead". They played all the way throughout 1995.

"What a long, strange trip it's been" is a lyric from one of the Grateful Dead's best known songs and pretty much tells a bunch about the long history of this band. The Grateful dead is really known for being into drugs. Which is a huge problem with bands these days. The group consisted of the 9 members Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, Bill Kreutzmann, Micky Hart, Keith & Donna Godcheaux, and Brent Mydland. In the begining the band started off playing free shows. After a while people started noticing them, and that's when they blew up. The band would go on playing shows throughout the years, but at the same time they were battling they're drug problems as well.

This is a huge reason I would maybe think twice about being in a band. Who would want to make a bunch of money, then just spend it on drugs? I would definitely invest into something else.

  8. but think about about how many bands do drugs, and how much that influences their music. not saying they should do drugs, it just makes for good music appearently.
